Absentee Voting Information for the Nov. 3 General Election

You can request that an absentee ballot be mailed to you online at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-US/VoteAbsentee. You can also submit a paper application for an absentee ballot, or you can request a ballot by sending a letter or email to the City Clerk. Your request must list your Monona address, the address where you'd like your ballot sent, the date of the election you're requesting a ballot for, your signature, and a copy of proof of identification. The last day you can request an absentee ballot by mail is October 29 at 5:00 p.m. You can check the status of your absentee ballot request at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-US/VoteAbsentee. Absentee ballots can be returned via the U.S. Mail, or they can be dropped at City Hall.  A secure, drive-up drop box is available in the parking lot at City Hall between the flag poles. 

Absentee Voting in Person

You can vote absentee in-person at City Hall from October 20 through October 30 as follows.  City Hall is located at 5211 Schluter Road (corner of Schluter and Nichols, across the street from the Monona Public Library).

  • Monday-Friday, Oct. 20-30, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Extended hours are available:
    • Wednesday Oct. 21, until 7:00 pm
    • Wednesday, Oct. 28,  until 7:00 pm
    • Saturday, Oct. 24, 8:00 a.m. until noon

Registering to Vote

You can register to vote:

  • Online at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-US/RegisterToVote
  • In person at City Hall until 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 30.
  • At the polling place on Election Day
  • By downloading a voter registration form and mailing it.  The last day to mail your voter registration is October 14.  After that date, you will have to come in person to City Hall by October 30 at 5:00 p.m. or at the polling place on Election Day.

The last day for any voting activity in City Hall is Friday, October 30 at 5:00 p.m. No absentee voting or voter registration can take place on Monday, Nov. 2.

Polling Place Information


Monona has two locations for people to vote. Both polling places open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. and are accessible to elderly and disabled voters.

  • Voters in wards 1-5 vote at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona.
  • Voters in wards 6-10 vote at the Monona Community Center, 1011 Nichols Road, Monona.
