Q: Which parks have reservable shelters?

These shelters can be reserved for events and gatherings. When not previously reserved, the shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis

Q: When are the shelters available to reserve?
  • Reservations at most parks can be made for events occurring between May 1 and October 15
  • Monona Parks and Recreation starts accepting shelter reservations on the first working day of January for residents of Monona and the first working day of February for non-residents.

Q: How do I make a shelter reservation?

Q: Can I put a temporary hold on a shelter without payment?

No, all shelter reservations must be paid at time of reservation.  We can transfer a reservation to a different date or shelter if available.

Q: Is there a way to find out if an event is already scheduled at a park I’m interested in?

Q: Can I serve alcohol at my event?
Yes, alcohol consumption is allowed in city parks, but no glass bottles.  If you want to sell beer or wine at your event, a separate permit is needed.

Q: Can I have amplified sound at my event?
Yes, amplified sound is allowed at the park shelters from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. An Amplified Sound Permit is required, and there is an additional fee of $50.
