Scholarly Scoop - Zoom Style Renewable Energy: The Future is Now!

Friday, December 11, 2020

Renewable energy: the future is now! Decades of research and development have resulted in renewable energy becoming economically competitive with fossil fuels, while offering significant environmental benefits. In this talk, we will discuss energy infrastructure in Wisconsin and the USA as a whole. We will describe what renewable technologies exist and how they work: solar, battery, thermoelectric, geothermal, and wind- as well as their advantages and challenges in future energy infrastructure and policy. Steven N. Girard is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, where he teaches general and inorganic chemistry courses. He earned undergraduate degrees in chemistry and music from Lawrence University and a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Northwestern University, and later was an NSF Science, Engineering, and Education for Sustainability Postdoctoral Fellow at UW–Madison. Call 222-3415 and leave your e-mail address for the Zoom link.
