Monona Farmers' Market

Sunday, August 13, 2017

Stop by the market this Sunday!

Honey has been used for food, medicines and more for thousands of years by cultures all over the world.  This natural product made from bees is produced when bees collect nectar and bring it back to the hive.  Stop by Tom and Carrie’s Place, honey vendors at the Monona Farmers’ Market, to see what a bee hive looks like and learn how honey is made. You can also pick up some recipes and tips for using honey for such things as soothing sore throats and bee stings.  Lucky for us, bees make more honey than they need and we can use it for baking, sweetening lemonades and teas, salad dressings, dips, marinades, vegetable glazes or just drizzling it on ice cream or French toast.  At the market, you’ll find a great selection of fresh produce, baked goods, meats and seafood that all go well with honey.

Noah James Hittner, singer, songwriter and guitarist, will entertain at the August 13 market. Hittner is an independent author, musician and entrepreneur from rural Wisconsin who has appeared on both radio and television. His books and music inspire the mind and warm the heart.

The Monona Farmers’ Market welcomes Andrea Romine, an event manager from Stoughton, WI, as their substitute market manager.  Andrea will serve as the market manager through September and when needed.  Stop by the market booth the meet and welcome Andrea.

EBT is accepted.  The Double Dollars Program is available.

The market, located at Ahuska Park, 400 East Broadway, is open every Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm through October 29th.
